Areas we cover in Herefordshire & Monmouthshire
We work across two counties rather than spreading thinly across six. That means we know the property types, the ground and the planning departments in the places we build.
Herefordshire
Primary service area, covering Hereford and the surrounding market towns and villages.
Hereford
The county's main market and the centre of most of our work. A mix of Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the centre, interwar semis in areas like Tupsley and Whitecross, and modern estates on the edges. Terraces often suit side or rear extensions and rear dormers; the semis take hip-to-gable conversions well. Much of the city centre falls within a conservation area.
Leominster
A historic market town with a large conservation area and a lot of timber-framed and Georgian property. Extension and renovation work here frequently needs a careful approach to materials and breathability, and planning applications rather than permitted development.
Ross-on-Wye
Period property on the hill and around the market house, and more modern housing spreading out towards the A40. The Wye Valley setting means landscape considerations affect what can be built and how it looks.
Ledbury
Another town with a substantial timber-framed and Georgian core and conservation area coverage. Rear extensions and internal reconfiguration are common here, as the street frontages leave little scope for anything visible.
Bromyard
Smaller market town with a mix of older stone and brick property and post-war housing. Good scope for extensions and garage conversions on the newer stock.
Kington and the Herefordshire villages
Rural stone and brick property, farmhouses and converted outbuildings across the west of the county. Annexes, barn conversions and extensions to older buildings are the common projects.
Monmouth
A busy market town with a well-defined conservation area, Georgian frontages and modern housing towards Wyesham and Osbaston. Rear extensions, loft conversions and full renovations are the usual work.
Abergavenny
Substantial Victorian and Edwardian housing plus large post-war and modern estates, sitting against the Black Mountains. Plenty of scope for extensions and hip-to-gable loft conversions.
Chepstow
Period property in the old town and extensive modern housing at Bulwark and Thornwell. Newer estates often have permitted development rights restricted, which changes the planning route.
Usk, Raglan and Caldicot
Village and small-town property across the county, from stone cottages to modern estate housing. Garden rooms, annexes and extensions are common requests.
